Internet Speed Testing
Speakeasy Speed Test go to this link and select a city to test. Use the same city each time to keep consistency.
Speed is measured in Mbs or Megabits per second. You measure download speed and upload speed to determine your Internet connection speed. There are many factors involved that affect speed. Location and load on the transmitting website host server, general Internet traffic, number of hops to reach remote server, etc.
The files listed below are of known size and will give you the truest measure of what speed you are actually running at. The files below are displayed in Megabytes. If you have a 8Mbs speed download speed you should be able to download the first file in about 12 seconds.
The megabit should not be confused with the similarly named megabyte.
One megabit = 0.125 megabytes. Network transfer rates and download
speeds are often referred to in megabits, whereas the sizes of files
transferred over these networks are often referred to in megabytes. To
achieve a transfer rate of one megabyte (1024k) per second one would
need a network connection with a transfer rate of eight megabits per
second.
